Lafayette deputies arrest man for hit and run

LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) - Lafayette Parish Sheriff's deputies arrested a man they say was involved in a hit and run.

Officials say Dustin Wayne Lasseter, 28, ran into a home on West Congress Street, almost striking a 6-month-old baby then backed up and fled away. It happened on Oct. 11.

On Monday, a deputy spotted a vehicle traveling west on Cameron Street on a trailer which matched the description of Lasseter's truck. Officers discovered the truck was being shipped to Houston for repair and identified Lasseter as the driver.

He was charged with hit and run and reckless operation. He was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. Bond was set at $1,000.
