PRAIRIEVILLE, LA (WAFB) -

A summons was issued on Tuesday for a woman accused of causing a wreck that killed two children in Prairieville.

This comes after a "no true bill" decision was returned on October 10 when District Attorney Ricky Babin presented the case to a grand jury in Ascension Parish.

The grand jury's decision followed State Police's findings in August to not file charges against Taylor saying they could not prove any criminal negligence. However, Troopers did find probable cause to cite Shawnette Taylor of Prairieville with careless operation.

Investigators said the children were fishing down an embankment with their father and two adult family friends in June when a 2004 Nissan Armada driven by 47-year old Taylor veered off the roadway and hit the group. The three adults were injured, but survived.

Sarai Lanus, 9, of Geismar, and her brother, Daylon, 6, were killed. Both children attended Dutchtown Primary School.
