Office manager arrested for stealing more than $200,000 from employer

GONZALES, LA (AP) - Gonzales Police have arrested an office manager for stealing more than $200,000 from her employer.

Shannon Denyse Desira, 40 of St. Amant, surrendered to investigators Tuesday morning. She was charged with felony theft in excess of $25,000. An audit revealed more than $200,000 had been taken over a six-year period.

Police say Desira who worked at Big Ben's Furniture changed payroll records and eliminated certain deductions out of her own payroll checks. She also issued herself additional checks.

Desira admitted to the fraudulent conduct. She was booked into the Ascension Parish jail.
