BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Southern University continued to celebrate its centennial Homecoming on Monday by burying a time capsule filled with mementos from various departments, faculty, staff and the 2014-2015 Student Government Association leaders.
The university says it plans to eventually dig up the time capsule in fifty years. Old homecoming shirts, yearbooks and even an iPhone 5 were some of the items buried inside of the capsule.
"The world is changing every day so in the next 50 years, they'll probably laugh about some of the customs we did and hopefully use some of the customs we did," said Southern SGA President Nicholas Harris.
Campus officials noted that the casket which was used as the time capsule was donated to Southern for that purpose.
