BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Hope Fest 2014 aimed to bring the community together to build the bond between police and the public in the 70805 zip code.
Kids attending the festival got to explore math and science to see what it felt like to be engineers, along with music, food and face painting. The festival aims to give a targeted community hope and reminding them they too play a part, with police, in neighborhood safety.
Other festival attendees include officers from city police and the sheriff's office. BRAVE, Baton Rouge Area Violence Elimination, is hoping to cut down on crime in the 70805 community.
"That's what this is all about...," said District Attorney Hillar Moore. "Letting them know who we are, what we stand for and that we need them."
