DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - Scratches on her car door and a broken door lock are the souvenirs left for Denham Springs resident Megan Conrad from an unwanted late night visitor.
"It was about 2:30 in the morning. It sounded like someone messing with something in the carport. I came out and he was messing with my car," said Conrad.
Conrad didn't get a good look at who appeared to be breaking into her car, but she was able to scare him off.
Conrad lives in the Quail Creek subdivision, a quiet neighborhood full of kids. She wants it to stay that way, but worries. She explains it was only a couple of years ago that this same neighborhood fell victim to other break-ins. Her house already has an alarm system. Now she wants to invest in cameras.
"Going from seeing it on TV to it actually happening to you and having stuff that you work hard for get messed with, it's pretty aggravating," said Conrad.
The longtime resident did file a report with the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (225) 344-7867.
