BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A new class of firefighters in Baton Rouge showed off their skills.
The 2014 Recruit Academy put out a fire Wednesday as part of their training program at the LSU Fire Training Academy. It's the first time the class had to deal with fire of this size during the controlled burn.
Some recruits say this job is something they've been looking forward to for a long time.
"It's something I'm very excited about," says Dylan Bergeron, a recruit. "I'm actually a second generation firefighter after my dad who retired in 2000 so it's something I've wanted to do for a quite a while and I'm really looking forward to graduating, getting out on the floor, and becoming a fireman."
About 30 recruits took part in the exercise. The class is expected to graduate next month.
