BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Detectives have made a second arrest in a deadly shooting they said was over a cell phone.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office reported Jordan Harris, 17, of Baton Rouge, was booked on charges of first-degree murder and armed robbery in the shooting death of Hancy Sanchez, 24.
Deputies said Harris admitted to detectives that he and James Mills, 18, who was arrested Monday, planned to rob the victim. They added Harris also confessed to taking the cell phone, but told investigators he ran away when Sanchez was shot. He claimed Mills shot Sanchez.
Mills was booked on charges of first-degree murder, armed robbery and illegal use of a weapon.
Authorities said Sanchez was shot in the head Monday morning. According to reports, Sanchez was approached by two men while outside of his apartment complex. One man reportedly asked to use his cell phone. He gave the man his phone but tried to grab it back when the man asked for his password.
The man pulled out a gun and shot Sanchez in the head, according to reports. Sanchez was taken to the hospital and later died.
