BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Three new CATS bus routes will be added in November, and include a non-stop express between the main terminal and LSU.
A Nicholson Drive route will travel between Downtown and Tigerland, and a Trolley route will travel between Downtown and the Garden District.
CATS CEO Bob Mirabito says the new routes represent growth within the system and an effort to provide more service.
"We can make adjustments to the schedules based on the demand that we have, so between hopefully saving some money via adjusting current routes and adding these routes, I think we're looking at about an additional $1 million of service we're looking of adding in November," said Mirabito
The routes will officially begin on November 30. Before that, the public is invited to a number of public meetings to give their input.
The public meetings will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the following dates and locations: Wednesday, Delmont Service Center, 3535 Riley St.; Thursday, BREC headquarters, 6201 Florida Blvd.; and Monday, Bluebonnet branch library, 9200 Bluebonnet Blvd. CATS staff will be on hand at the meeting to explain the proposed changes as well as to receive input and suggestions.
