BRPD Officer resigns after police cruiser ends up in LSU Lakes

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

In September, Baton Rouge Police Officer Byron Boudreaux's vehicle ended up in the LSU Lakes. Boudreaux was placed on administrative leave and an internal investigation was launched.

Officer Boudreaux resigned Tuesday, according to officials with the Baton Rouge Police Department.

He was a two-year veteran assigned to patrol in the First District.

Officials would not provide much detail relative to the investigation. They did, however, say the incident happened at roughly 1:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11.

"A police unit was located in the water on Cedardale Ave near East Lakeshore Drive," Cpl. McKneely confirmed. "A tow truck recovered the vehicle from the water."
