CENTRAL, LA (WAFB) - For one young kid at a local school, an injury led to the diagnosis of something far scarier.
Cole Browning was taken to the doctor after a concussion and that's when doctors found a brain tumor. The students at Cole's school, Central Private, wanted to do something for him before he leaves for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Tuesday.
In just three days, students and teachers organized a party with food, music, and T-shirts for sale. The students were cutting their hair in show of support.
Despite the late start on organizing the party, those close to Cole say the turnout was no surprise.
"This is a family, Central Private School is a family," said Penny Kinchen, Cole's teacher, "We love each other. We love God and when we have anybody in need we all come out and that's what we're doing is supporting this family and supporting this child."
The money will go to help Cole and his family. After three weeks at St. Jude, Cole will head to Jacksonville for special radiation treatment that will take six weeks.
