Pedestrian stuck and killed on US 61

LAPLACE, LA (WAFB) - State Troopers say a pedestrian was struck and killed in an accident that happened Saturday night.  The crash happened just before 9:00 pm on US 61 just north of Tiffany Drive.

Investigators say David Curtis, 63, was walking north in the right lane of US 61 when he was struck by Darrell Edwards, 36, who was driving in the right lane.  Curtis sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Troopers do not suspect speed or impairment to be factors in the crash, however Edwards has submitted to a blood test.  Toxicology reports for Curtis are pending an autopsy.  This crash remains under investigation.
