BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

LSU suffered a 41-7 loss to Auburn on Saturday, dropping the Tigers to 4-2 on the season and 0-2 in the SEC.

It was a new look for the team, as freshman quarterback Brandon Harris started the game for LSU. Unfortunately, the results were the same for the Tigers, at they experienced their second straight SEC loss. This is the first time they have started 0-2 in the league since 2001.

The LSU defense was unable to stop Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall and the offense, giving up 247 yards in the first quarter. Auburn has never put up those kinds of numbers in head coach Gus Malazahn's career. A 56-yard touchdown pass from Marshall to wide receiver Sammie Coates to give Auburn the early 10-0 lead.

Auburn then went up 17-0 on a 7-yard touchdown run by Marshall. LSU cut the lead to 17-7 with a 1-yard touchdown by running back Kenny Hilliard near the end of the first quarter. Auburn then began to really pull away. Marshall connected with his tight end CJ Uzomah for a 9-yard touchdown early in the second quarter. Then, in a play similar to what Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott did to LSU, Marshall ran for a 29-yard touchdown.

The score was 31-7 at halftime. Auburn went on to hit another field goal and score another touchdown before all was said and done. Auburn had 379 yards of total offense in the first half and finished with 566.

Harris struggled from the onset and never got into a rhythm throwing the football. He completed only three of his 13 pass attempts for 58 yards. He also ran the ball eight times for 36 yards. However, by the time he completed his first pass, LSU was already down 17-0.

"Offensively, did not execute to keep the ball and sustain drives," LSU head coach Les Miles said. "We're a work in progress and we're certainly a group of men that is committed to making real adjustments and fixing things. But frankly, we didn't get it done today."

LSU was held to 280 total offensive yards. Former starting quarterback Anthony Jennings entered the game off the bench to complete five passes on 10 attempts for 84 yards.

LSU next takes on the Florida Gators in Gainesville.
