BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Library System is trying to promote education and literacy through its on-the-go resource lab known as the Bookmobile.
"This is our way to get out into the communities that need these resources and give them for free," said Tameka Robey, who also drives the Bookmobile anywhere around the Metro Baton Rouge area.
Currently, EBRPL utilizes two 18-wheeler vehicles that are outfitted with music, internet access, books, movies and other library resources.
"Everyone has the right to information. Some people may not be able to physically come to the library for whatever reason, so why not have the library come to them?" Robey asked.
Robey added you can find the Bookmobile in action every day of the week, whether at churches, schools or just on the street.
"We love getting out there and into the community and bringing these resources. Everyone loves things that are free, so why not let them be educational materials?" she questioned.
