BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The re-installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of East Boyd Drive and Burbank Drive hopes to ease the headaches of motorists.
In July, the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) removed the traffic signal. DOTD said they were hoping to improve traffic conditions and safety. But, after months of research and countless measures to try and improve that section of Burbank, the department decided it would be best to put the traffic light back up.
Several drivers have complained about the dangers of that intersection. L'Brittany Moore lives in the area. She said a traffic signal is much needed.
"There has been like five or six accidents," said Moore. "College students drive through here all the time and we are at the stop sign for like 10 to 15 minutes before we even get a chance to go across. So I think it would be safer if a traffic light was here."
Hopefully, a new traffic signal will shift gears in a better direction. DOTD crews are set to start work on Wednesday and should have the traffic light up and running by the end of next week.
