Review board considers closing LSU Golf Course

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Golfers around LSU may have to find a new place to swing their clubs. A review board is considering the LSU Golf Course along Nicholson Dr., between Gourrier Ave. and Bob Petit Blvd.

The course is open to the public, but LSU's facility services say it still only makes a small profit.

Golfers who frequent the course are upset at the news of the possible closure and hope for a different outcome.

"My first thought would be, we definitely need more space to park on campus, but I don't know that they should close down the golf courses," said one golfer. "I think there are other places around campus that they could open up more spacing for more people to park.>

Possible solutions could be reducing the course from an 18-hole course to a 9-hole course. However, Facility Services is not positive what the future holds for the course or what the time table is for a decision.
