ZACHARY, LA (WAFB) - Zachary police say an intoxicated man was arrested for cruelty to animals and disturbing the peace after threatening to turn his pit bulls loose on his neighbors.
According to Zachary police officers, neighbors complained that 46-yr-old Kelvin Gray cursed at them and threatened them just before 8:30 on Saturday morning.
Once officers approached Gray and his dog, they smelled alcohol on his breath. Gray also had problems standing up straight and speaking without a slurred speech, according to the affidavit of probable cause.
Officers noticed bite marks on the pit bull's face and throat as if it had taken part in a dog fight. Once Animal Control was contacted, Gray refused to cooperate with officers and began cursing at them as he tried to walk away.
There were several other dogs at Gray's residence that were not receiving an adequate amount of food and water as well, according to officers.
Gray was transported to the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with disturbing the peace and cruelty to animals. His bond is set at $1,000.
