BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The master planning process for architects and developers working on the LSU Lakes restoration project began Thursday.
Led by LSU architect graduate Kinder Baumgardner, the master planners will meet with leaders from LSU, East Baton Rouge Government, BREC and an advisory committee formed by the Baton Rouge Area Foundation.
Their goal over the next two days is to gather enough information to create a restoration strategy that would lessen noise and drainage into the lakes from I-10 and a landscaping scheme everyone can enjoy.
"That's our goal, is to really understand people's concerns," Baumgardner said. "Views are important, of course, but to hear these concerns and figure out how to apply them to a master plan that fixes the problem, but most importantly, creates this much bigger opportunity."
Another part of the master plan will be identifying funding sources needed to get the restoration complete.
