Officials offer reward after guns stolen from hardware store

PAINCOURTVILLE, LA (WAFB) - Federal agents are upping the ante in a gun theft investigation out of Assumption Parish.

The Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office reported a man broke into the Sagona's True Value Hardware store in Paincourtville on Saturday and stole several guns.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the National Sports Shooting Foundation are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.

Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect. He is described as a black man between 5'8" and 5'10".

Authorities added he may have been seen walking along LA 70, LA 308 and LA 1 between 11 p.m. and midnight.
