GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - A Gonzales man was arrested after deputies with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office say they discovered about 100 marijuana plants growing inside the home.
The discovery came after deputies with the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office contacted officials in Ascension Parish advising that an individual may be growing marijuana in his home.
On Thursday night, detectives went to the home in the 13000 block of Harold Road to investigate.
"Detectives could smell a strong aroma of marijuana as they began to approach the residence," said Allison Hudson, the Public Information Officer for the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office."
Detectives found the plants, along with growing equipment and chemicals used to grow the marijuana.
Ronald Fuselier Jr., 39,was arrested and charged with cultivation of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond.
