BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - LSU has brought in one of the largest freshman classes in the university's history and overall enrollment increased to more than 30,000 students for the first time since 2005.
LSU's fall 2014 freshman class is composed of 5,655 students, making it the third largest class since the university implemented admission standards in 1988. Overall enrollment at the university stands at 30,451.
"More students are choosing to pursue their higher education opportunities at LSU," said LSU President and Chancellor F. King Alexander. "Whether a student is in Shreveport, Alexandria, Eunice, Baton Rouge or New Orleans, they can be assured that they will be given the tools and resources to be successful in their chosen field and we will do everything we can to make sure they finish with a degree and a great start to their career."
LSU's overall enrollment stands at 30,451, a two percent increase from 2013. This year's enrollment includes 304 students enrolled in the new LSU Online program.
