BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A woman was arrested on an arson charge after she allegedly set a man's car on fire Saturday morning.
Joycelyn Williams, 27, of Baton Rouge, was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on one count of simple arson of a vehicle.
According to the probable cause report, a black Nissan Altima was set on fire at a home on South 21st Street just before 7 a.m. Investigators said the suspect first poured a flammable liquid on the car and then lit it.
They added the man who lives at the home said he heard a noise outside and when he went to see what was going on, he saw the car was on fire and reportedly saw Williams leaving.
Authorities said further investigation of the case revealed text messages sent by Williams to the homeowner before and after the fire. They added Williams later showed up at the home and the man called the investigator.
Williams was taken into custody a short time later.
