GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - What was meant to be a meeting about legal fees in Gonzales turned into a tense volley about the recall movement of two councilmen.

The group "Save-Gonzales" is spearheading a recall effort against councilmen Gary Lacombe and Timothy Vessel.

On Wednesday night, Recall Leader Chuck Leblanc personally hand delivered the petition complete with the more than 2,000 signatures needed to both Lacombe and Vessel.

"We have the numbers we need," Leblanc said. "We're just trying to get the buffers where we want them to be, but we like where we're at."

Neither Vessell nor Lacombe spoke about to 9News about the recall.

The registrar still has to certify the petition which could put the issue up for a vote in December.
