BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana Office of Alcohol and Tobacco Control arrested a Baton Rouge man after he was accused of selling fruit-infused vodka on the popular social networking site Instagram.
The ATC found the name "Honey Dew Fusions" on Instagram and began an undercover investigation.
The undercover officer was able to buy alcohol for $20 through a PayPal account. Reports say several weeks later, a 750 ml bottle of alcohol was received. The Louisiana State Police Crime Lab tested the contents of the bottle and learned the liquid in the bottle contained 11.4 percent alcohol by volume.
ATC agents arrested 28-year-old Jeffrey Daniels and charged him with selling alcohol without a state or local permit.
"The sale of illegal homemade alcohol not only poses a threat to the health and safety of others, but is unfair to all of the alcohol businesses that follow the laws," said ATC Commissioner Troy Hebert.
Daniels was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. No bond has been set.
