Sheriff's office offering 'concealed carry' classes

WALKER, LA (WAFB) - Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office will offer ‘concealed carry' classes to anyone who wants to learn "how to properly, safely, and confidently handle a weapon."

The classes will be held on Sept. 20 at the sheriff's office Training Center and Firing Range at 28225 Woodside Drive in Walker. The classes will consist of classroom and weapons firing instructions. It is designed to provide students with the requirements necessary to apply for and obtain a Concealed Carry permit. Participants must be 21 years of age and meet state police requirements.

"The instructors are tasked with training and qualifying other members of the law enforcement community," said Sheriff Jason Ard.  "They teach various firearm skills – from basic firearms to training specialized tactical units. They are more than qualified to help those interested in this particular class."

The cost of the class is $125 which includes breakfast and lunch. For more information, go to www.lpso.org.
