Police searching for woman in attempted armed robbery at an ATM

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Baton Rouge Police Detectives need the public's help in identifying a suspect in an alleged attempted armed robbery. 

The crime happened on August 18, 2014 around 7:55 p.m. at the Chase Bank ATM on W. State Street. 

Police say the victim was making an ATM transaction when he was approached by "a heavy set, black female with small braids in her hair." Reports say the suspect pulled out a gun and demanded money, then she hit the victim over the head with the handgun and fought with the victim.

The suspect got into the victim's vehicle, but ran off when she couldn't get the car started.

The victim had minor injuries and did not require any medical treatment, according to police.
