VERMILION PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Shrimpers in Delcambre left their boats tied up Monday instead of casting their nets.
"That's what's killing us," says one shrimper. "They buy that import shrimp for hardly nothing and don't want to pay for our shrimp. That's killing us right there."
It's day one of a work stoppage that could continue until the shrimpers receive higher prices for their catches.
Some of the shrimpers say that imported shrimp from Asia is taking a toll on the prices, but people won't know how much this work stoppage will hurt them until the next few weeks.
