2 arrested for burglary of evacuated home near giant Louisiana sinkhole

BELLE ROSE, LA (WAFB) -

A home evacuated almost two years ago due to the giant Louisiana sinkhole in Bayou Corne was burglarized in August, and Assumption Parish Sheriff Mike Waguespack reports that two people have been arrested in the case. 

Sheriff Waguespack says several air conditioners, cement benches and other miscellaneous items were taken. An investigation was initiated by the Criminal Investigation Division.

Two arrests were made; 40-year-old Billy Rodrigue and 34-year-old Nicole Gros, both of Pierre Part. 

Rodrigue was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center September 5, 2014 and charged with simple burglary and theft over $500. His bond was set at $6,000, and he bonded out. Gros was booked on theft over $500, theft under $300, and forgery. Her bond has been set at $5,683, she has not bonded out.
