BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana Museum held a Service Academy day for high school students who may be interested in the opportunities of serving, while getting an education.
High school students and their parents assembled to visit with representatives from the military, Naval, Air Force, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines Academies.
Students were able to have an idea of what opportunities are available.
"Just the fact of serving my country and being an inspiration to others, being a leaders really makes me feel good about myself," said Derek Hedrick, a junior at Ascension Christian Academy.
Students were also shown the application process, and what it takes to get in to each of the academies. They were able to get a glimpse of what life would be like if they were accepted.
