BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Dozens of fans were out tailgating as both the LSU Tigers and Southern Jaguars play their first home games this weekend.
At Tiger Stadium, tiger hopefuls were getting ready for tomorrow's game against Sam Houston State at 6:30 p.m. Tents, speakers, and TVs were set up outside several RVs. A group called Tiger Town Mafia was showing off their dance moves on a homemade dance floor. One man from the group said tailgating is engraved in LSU culture.
"Well, it brings everybody together for the game. It's more like a family," he said.
On the Bluff, Southern's Human Jukebox was tuning up the band, making sure every note and step was correct. The Jaguars face Central Methodist at 6 p.m. Eddie August has tailgated for 20 years. He was cooking catfish outside his RV.
"I love tailgating," said August. "Didn't they say Baton Rouge was the second happiest city? We just love tailgating even when we're losing."
Fans hope losing won't be the case tomorrow.
