ST. GABRIEL, LA (WAFB) -

The man accused of killing Scott Rogers, the Around Town Talk Show Host, on August 27, 2014 has died. Detectives say Rogers' son-in-law, Mathew Hodgkinson, shot Rogers and turned the gun on himself. Those who knew them said Hodgkinson and Rogers were also lovers.

Hodgkinson was hospitalized on the day of the shooting and was fighting for his life. He died Friday afternoon.

Hodgkinson was also the producer of Rogers' TV show. His professional name was Mathew Hodgkins.

Deputies were called to Rogers' home on Daisy Avenue at 12:40 p.m.

"We received a call that shots were heard as somebody was entering the residence," the Sheriff said. "On follow up, it was described as a murder-suicide scene and we're investigating it as a homicide until it's determined what we have here."

"It was determined that Scott Rogers was deceased and another male at the residence had received a shot to the head and was in critical condition," said Iberville Parish Sheriff Brett Stassi.

Hodgkinson is married to Rogers' daughter, Stassi said. The sheriff said the home had been the scene of a "bunch of stress" in the past several weeks and had previously responded to calls at the home.
