Police search for man accused of shooting at 5 people, hitting one of them

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man accused of shooting at a small group of people at a home, hitting one of them.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Frederick Irvin, 20, of Baton Rouge, is wanted on five counts of attempted second-degree murder, simple battery and illegal discharge of a weapon.

According to investigators, Irvin got into an argument with a woman on August 26 that escalated into violence. Reports indicate Irvin slapped the woman so hard she nearly dropped her 2-year-old child.

Police said the woman ran to a nearby home and Irvin reportedly tried to follow, but several people stopped him at the door.

Authorities reported Irvin pulled out a gun and started shooting. They added there were five people at the home and one of them was hit three times. The suspect then ran away.

Irvin is described as 5'8" and weighs 135 pounds.
