BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Gay Rights watchdog group, Forum for Equality, appealed a judge's ruling Wednesday which upheld the state's ban on same sex marriage.
The appeal argues that the ban violates due process and equal protection rights.
In upholding the ban, Judge Martin Feldman ruled it ‘was constitutional and traditional going back thousands of years.'
The ruling also meant Louisiana didn't have to recognize same-sex marriages from states where it is legal.
Courts struck down marriage bans in Indiana and Wisconsin.
