BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Louisiana State Police Retirement Board is set to take up a controversial retirement law Thursday that affects only two state troopers, one of which is LSP Supt. Col. Mike Edmonson.
The retirement boost could total $300,000 for Edmonson and one other trooper. Edmonson has already said he will not accept the boost.
Lawmakers passed the amendment without public discussion on the last day of the session.
The board will hear a report from a law firm that claims the bill is unconstitutional.
The board could also decide how to move forward in dealing with the act.
