BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The state health officials have confirmed that there are 9 new cases of West Nile Virus.
According to the Department of Health and Hospitals, seven of those cases are in East Baton Rouge Parish, and the other two are reported in Ascension and Caddo Parishes.
The new total number of cases is now 61.
Health officials are urging everyone to take steps to prevent mosquito bites, including using repellent, wearing long sleeves, and pants when outside.
