PHOENIX (CBS5) -

Police are trying to find a man who was kidnapped Tuesday night in west Phoenix.

Police said Joel Lawhone, 36, and an unidentified woman, both homeless, started staying at a vacant house with no electricity near 31st Street and Buckeye Road.

Just before 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, two men accused Lawhone of assaulting their niece and, according to police, told Lawhone he was "going to have to pay for it."

They forced him into their car and pulled the woman by her hair towards the car. She was able to hang on to a fence and scream which bystanders heard and the suspects led her go.

Detectives said there was a significant amount of blood inside the house and they're concerned about Lawhone.

The suspects are described as Hispanic men in the 20s to 30s and were seen driving a 1990s Black Nissan Altima with a gray front bumper and damage on the driver's side.

Anyone with information is asked to call Phoenix police at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-958-6377.
