GONZALES, LA (WAFB) - The Gonzales budget merry-go-round continues, as the city council voted Monday in favor of virtually the same spending plan as before.
Council members voted 3 to 2 to float the same budget proposal Mayor Barney Arceneaux has previously vetoed.
“The three councilmen have decided they want to maintain what they asked for before,” Arceneaux said. “So that gives me another two weeks to look and see what our feelings are and when I say, ‘Our feelings,' I'm talking about the other two councilmen.”
The budget proposal, again, includes sharp cuts to the Gonzales Police Department and Ascension Economic Development Corporation.
It could go up for a vote at the next meeting, which will be held in two weeks.
