BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

Police are investigating a bizarre crash involving a train and a car in which the people inside the car ran away after the collision.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported the wreck happened at North Ardenwood Drive at Choctaw Drive.

Investigators said a car was hit by a train while trying to cross the tracks. They added there was no derailment.

Police say the three occupants of the vehicle ran off after the collision with the train, however, officials with EMS are saying there were no injuries.

Police say the three occupants later returned to the car and will each be issued multiple citations.

Officials note there are no railroad crossing arms, but the intersection does have functioning lights.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department was also called to the scene.
