BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A program run by the Cinderella project in Baton Rouge is helping underserved young women get better prepared to go to college.

Students can get help from Exxon-Mobil on how to apply for the Cinderella Leadership Academy. The program will run three days in October and will teach the young girls how to get ready to apply for college.

But leaders say that's not the only important thing being taught.

”The Leadership Academy is an intensive college prep workshop, and we partner with LSU,” officials says. “It's an opportunity for young women: juniors, sophomores and seniors to learn about how to apply to college and what sort of scholarships are available, and what sort of financial aid packages they can secure. "

The Cinderella Leadership Academy will be open to approximately 20 young women. The deadline to apply is Sept. 22wa.
