GONZALES, LA (WAFB) -

Three Gonzales City Council members have hired an attorney out of New Orleans to represent them in a lawsuit brought against them by an Ascension Parish judge.

At a special meeting Wednesday morning, the council voted 3-2 in favor of allowing the city to pick up the tab. District Judge Alvin Turner Jr. is suing Gary LaCombe, Timothy Vessel and Terrance Irvin to get them to overturn a decision they made to not rezone a piece of property he owns.

The city has agreed to pay the attorney $185 an hour, which is the same rate it pays the city attorney.
