Valentine tweets he's cleared to play for the Tigers, LSU says not quite yet

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Travonte Valentine tweeted Monday morning that he has been cleared to play for LSU and is on his way to Baton Rouge. Valentine, a highly touted 4-star defensive tackle out of Florida, had been waiting for the NCAA Clearinghouse's approval to play at LSU.

Michael Bonnette, LSU's Sports Information Director, said in a release that, “Travonte Valentine is going through the final phases of the admission process. He has not been cleared to join the football team. We will let you know once the process is complete.”

As a senior at Champagnat Catholic High School, Valentine finished the season with 85 total tackles with 31.5 tackles for a loss and 16 sacks.

Valentine should make an immediate impact on defense for the Tigers.

LSU opens their season against the Wisconsin Badgers in Houston, TX on Saturday, Aug. 30.
