BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Family and friends of a man, killed on North Ardenwood, gathered at the place where he was shot to remember him.

Participants planned a balloon release for a father of six, 28-year-old Kedrick Ricard of Baton Rouge, who was shot on Tuesday, August 12th.

Eric Johnson, 25, of Baton Rouge, was arrested and held on a $500,000 bond. He is charged with second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon in the shooting death of Ricard.

The Baton Rouge Police Department reported the shooting happened at Renaissance Gateway Apartments on North Ardenwood Drive, which is just off Florida Boulevard, around 6:15 p.m. Police detained a possible suspect for questioning, but that person is not believed to be involved and was not arrested.

Relatives said the father of six was dropping off baby supplies to the mother of his 8-month-old child when he was shot. They added a man was arguing loudly with a woman and asked Ricard if he had a problem. They also said the man then followed Ricard and shot him from behind several times.
