PONCHATOULA, LA (WAFB) -
Deputies with the Tanigpahoa Parish Sheriff's Office have arrested a man and are searching for his mother in connection to a meth lab found in their Ponchatoula home.
Terry Elkins, 20, and his mother Melody Elkins, 40, both lived in the house in the 39000 block of Shingle Mill Road..
The Narcotics Unit executed a search warrant Tuesday. Deputies found evidence of manufacturing methanphetamine inside the home. They also found a large amount of "precursor materials" including 57 pounds of Ammonia Nitrate in plastic bags. The majority of the materials in a hidden room in Melody Elkins' bedroom.
Terry Elkins was at home during the search warrant. Investigators say Terry was actively involved in the manufacturing of meth and gathering the materials used to manufacture the drug. He was arrested and charged with manufacturing of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Deputies are actively searching for Melody Elkins. She is wanted on charges of manufacturing of meth, distribution of meth, and possession of meth.
