LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Aerial mosquito spraying is underway in Livingston Parish and will be conducted over the next two to three days.
The Livingston Parish Mosquito Abatement District has contracted with a company to do aerial spraying over roughly 90,000 acres on the westside of the parish.
Walker Police Department posted a message on its Facebook page Thursday night to warn residents.
"If any of you are wondering why there is an airplane dive-bombing our airspace tonight, we are NOT at war with St. Helena Parish. The state is conducting mosquito spraying operations around the Walker area. So please don't shoot at them at least until they have finished. Thank you!
The boundaries include Sims Road to the north, Highway 449 north of I-12 and Highway 447 south of I-12 on the east, 4-H Club Road on the south, and the Amite River on the west.
Some of the communities that have already been sprayed including Albany, Springfield, Holden, Maurepas, Whitehall, French Settlement, Port Vincent, Livingston, and Satsuma.
