BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police have arrested a man in connection with the shooting that left a father of six dead Tuesday.
The Baton Rouge Police Department reported Eric Johnson, 25, of Baton Rouge, was wanted "for his involvement" in the shooting death of Kedrick Ricard, 28, also of Baton Rouge. He was arrested by the Baton Rouge Police Special Response Team after receiving a tip from Crime Stoppers.
The shooting happened at Renaissance Gateway Apartments on North Ardenwood Drive, which is just off Florida Boulevard, around 6:15 p.m.
Relatives said Ricard was dropping off baby supplies to the mother of his 8-month-old child when he was shot.
They added a man was arguing loudly with a woman and asked Ricard if he had a problem. They also said the man then followed Ricard and shot him from behind several times.
Investigators said the victim was taken to a hospital where he later died.
Court documents show Johnson has been arrested on numerous counts of armed robbery, but he has no convictions on his record.
Johnson will be booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with second degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
