Driver faces DWI and other charges after head-on collision leaves him seriously injured

LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police said a man suspected of being impaired was flown to the hospital by helicopter after a head-on collision Wednesday night that caused the other vehicle to flip over.

Troopers said Derek Taddie, 32, of Denham Springs, was taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital by AirMed. He suffered serious injuries in the crash that happened on Magnolia Bridge Road in Livingston Parish.

Troopers added Taddie will be booked on the following charges when he is released from the hospital:

DWI

According to investigators, Taddie was driving a car eastbound on Magnolia Bridge Road when he crossed the center line and collided head-on with a truck. The truck ended up flipped on the side of the road. Troopers said the driver of the pickup suffered only minor injuries.

Louisiana State Police and the Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office responded to the wreck.

The investigation into the wreck is ongoing.
