DENHAM SPRINGS, LA (WAFB) - A man who pleaded no contest to sexual battery was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

The 21st Judicial District reported Judge Bruce Bennett ordered Dwayne Miller, 46, of Denham Springs, on July 28 to serve a quarter of a century behind bars without the benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.

Authorities said Miller was arrested on Jan. 1, 2013 after the victim’s mother contacted the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office. District Attorney Scott Perrilloux said while he was in custody, Miller admitted to police that he had sexually abused the victim the day before being arrested.

Perrilloux added Miller’s trial was scheduled to begin on July 28, but he chose to change his plea.
