BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office helps students get a head start with their annual back-to-school event.
Deputies hosted their fifth annual Scotlandville School Supply Giveaway to get kids ready for their first day of school. Deputies handed out over 500 bags of supplies to children who need them. They say this is a much needed event for the community.
“We feel that education is a key to a successful life so that’s why we chose the school supply giveaway,” said EBRSO Capt. Fredrick Thomas.
Lt. Governor Jay Dardenne was the guest speaker at today’s event. The event included booths from groups like the DARE program and Crime Stoppers.
