AMITE, LA (WAFB) - Two men have been arrested after shots were fired during an argument and a stray bullet went through the rear window of a nearby vehicle with a toddler and his father inside.
It happened Monday around 8 p.m. Deputies were called out for a second time on Puleston Road in Amite, LA. The same men involved in the first disturbance are accused of getting into another argument and firing shots in random directions.
Kenyon Mason, 22, of Kentwood and 20-year-old Brenton Mason of Hammond "carelessly fired shots in random directions," according to Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Deputies.
Deputies say a stray bullet form Kenyon's .22 cal handgun went through the rear window of a nearby vehicle that was occupied by one adult male and his 3 year old child. The child and his father were not injured. Witnesses told deputies the two were seen running into a nearby apartment.
When deputies went into the apartment, both men were lying on the ground with their hands visible and were taken into custody. The alleged weapon used in the shooting was recovered and placed into evidence.
Kenyon Mason was arrested and charged with resisting an officer, cruelty to a juvenile, aggravated criminal damage to property, illegal discharge of a weapon, convicted felon in possession of a firearm and disturbing the peace.
