Police identify suspect arrested for hit and run involving 6-year-old

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Police have released the name of the woman accused of hitting a 6-year-old child while she was riding a bike Monday afternoon.

The Baton Rouge Police Department arrested Maigan Scott, 20, of Baton Rouge, on the following charges:

Hit and run driving

Negligent injuring

Driver's license required

Insurance required

Switched license plate 

At last check, the child was listed in critical condition. Her name was not released by authorities.

According to investigators, Scott was driving a tan-colored Oldsmobile in the 2500 block of Washington Avenue around 4 p.m. when she allegedly hit the little girl. Officers reported she drove to a home on North 18th Street without trying to help the child.

Police said they were able to find her vehicle, which led to Scott’s arrest about 30 minutes after the incident.

Scott was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison. No bond was set.
